Radar Systems Engineering:  SEG supports Navy and MDA programs in a broad spectrum of radar systems analysis that includes: current and next generation requirements derivation and performance prediction. These studies will impact next generation combat system architectures. SEG engineers are assisting the Navy team in the current test and evaluation of new baselines. We are also developing new algorithms to enhance system performance against cruise missiles and tactical ballistic missiles. SEG's simulations of sensor and combat  system performance in difficult littoral warfare environments such as the Persian Gulf have contributed to back fit and forward fit requirements and solutions. SEG has been a key participant in the development of a new multi-channel CDCS, coherent data collection system, that is now being fielded.  This will allow us to record raw radar returns. SEG also has developed an extensive set of data analysis tools to process the recorded data.

Threat & Missile Systems Engineering:  SEG is working with the U.S. Navy to provide detailed understanding and engineering characterizations of threat ballistic missiles for use in U.S. Navy combat system design and evaluation. SEG's areas of expertise include: high fidelity threat missile modeling and simulation, foreign weapon research and development, and foreign missile systems engineering, design and performance analysis.

missile launchingTactical Missile Defense Analysis:  SEG provides the U.S. Navy and ballistic missile community with unique solutions to target discrimination in difficult environments. This includes development of debris screening techniques.

Combat Systems Engineering:  SEG is working with the U.S. Navy to perform combat system engineering on current and advanced air defense systems. The focus is AEGIS cruisers and destroyers' ability to conduct ballistic and cruise missile defense. This includes threat definition, system requirements and identification of system issues and solution development.

radar antennaAntenna Systems Engineering:  SEG supports the Navy in the development and demonstration of "in-situ" calibration and test techniques for active arrays used in advanced shipboard radar and communications systems. Capabilities include requirements analysis, system simulation, error analysis, test planning, antenna measurement technique development and test data analysis.

submariner using periscopeSonar Analysis and Processing:  SEG is working with the Applied Physics Lab developing algorithms for detection and classification of underwater targets. We have worked with the Navy designing towed arrays for shallow water applica-
tion. Our capabilities include threat assessment, definition of system requirements, analysis of sea trial data, simulation development, signal processing and algorithm design.

Test and Evaluation:  SEG is working with the U.S. Navy to provide Threat Engineering and analysis support to test and evaluation efforts. SEG capabilities include test planning, scenario development, and post-test analysis.

Federal Aviation Administration Support:  SEG is providing technical expertise to the ATO-T Long Range Radar Program Sustainment Design Concept Study, a DOD funded project that will determine the most cost effective approaches for modifying the FAA legacy radar systems to support Homeland Security initiatives for the next fifteen years. SEG is also active in the ARSR-4 Sustainment Program supporting the ARSR-4 encoder/pre-amp/resolver redesign.

Additional SEG projects in the Medical Sector include:

Healthcare and Capitated System Development:  SEG is working with the Veterans Administration and hospitals in the design and implementation of teleradiology systems. SEG is developing capitated models for chronic patients as well as healthy populations and is defining the clinical and information technology requirements for next generation VA delivery systems. This will allow the VA to improve their service to veterans and team with other healthcare providers.

Medical Imaging Analysis and Processing:  SEG has developed algorithms for the detection of microcalcifications to assist radiologists in the early detection of breast cancer.
